Character Creation / Character Creation Guide + Template
« on: June 16, 2012, 02:09:49 am »
This will be my W.I.P. for your character creation needs. I hope this helps. And know, I will be adding more to this soon!
________________________________________________________________________________________

First you will need to assign your ability scores...
Ability scores are the defining differences that make your character unique. These scores provide a bonus in skills, attacks, defense, crafting, and magical power. These ability stats are:

[STR] Strength - Strength measures your character's muscle and physical power. This affects athletics and melee combat.

[DEX] Dexterity - Dexterity measures hand-eye coordination, agility, reflexes, and balance. This affects acrobatics, fine manipulation, ranged combat, and reflexes.

[INT] Intelligence - Intelligence determines how well your character learns and reasons. This affects how many skill points you gain and how powerful spells can be.

[WIS] Wisdom - Wisdom describes a character's willpower, common sense, perception, and intuition. This affects your character's senses, willpower, and spell resistance.

[HP] Health Points - Health represents a character's vitals and health. This affects only your life. If this stat reaches 0, your character is knocked unconscious. After that, each turn your not stabilized, you lose 1 health point. Once this life reaches - 10 your character dies.

HELPFUL ADVISE: Assigning ability scores is a careful process that can affect your character for a lifetime. This process should be respected and not be rushed.

A generic character would have a character sheet like the one below:

STR_10
DEX_10
INT_10
WIS_10
HP_10

The values measure a character's ability. A low score is poor; the higher the scores, the better. Typically a score of 10 is equivalent to a common human ability. Scores of 18 or higher represent gifted or even heroic-like ability. Gods typically have their stats at no less than 22.

Each new character will be given a number of points to assign into each of your stats. The limit you could naturally assign your character would be 18. You may not have a stat above 18, unless it has been modified by race or magic. This is done in a way similar to Fallout 3, by Bethesda. Using, let's say, 64 points; I would generate ability scores like these below:

OFFICIAL STAT POINTS FOR A NEW CHARACTER ARE: 64

STR_18
DEX_14
INT_8 <|--
WIS_12
HP_12

^^ Thus, I have generated the typical "meathead" type brute character. This character would play as a great Barbarian or Fighter class. As noted by the "<|--" I opted to have a less then average intelligence. This means my character should never be the one to learn a new exotic spell or even gain anything from books. As such, a character's abilities should be primary influences on how you role-play your character.

Races offer a variety of bonuses that add on to your character sheet. Primarily these are ability score +/- adjustments. Other things that could be included are skill bonuses, languages, racial abilities, and spell-like powers.

Lastly pick a class and fill in your character sheet.

Character Name:
nickname:

Race:
((Races offer a variety of bonuses that add on to your character sheet. Primarily these are ability score +/- adjustments. Other things that could be included are skill bonuses, languages, racial abilities, and spell-like powers.))

Patron Deity:
((You may choose none or many, unless you are a cleric or paladin. You may only pick one))

Alignment:
((Alignment is a critical choice for Clerics and Paladins, as you may not be of an alignment more than one away from your god))

Short Bio(appearance & mannerisms):

What kinda upbringing did you have?:

Your profession, how do you get money to eat?:

What are your personal strengths?:

What are your personal weakness?:

Your current outlook on the setting and time:

What you plan to accomplish in life:

Heroes of Abrynis: The Shadow's Reach

-Preface-
Abrynis is the brain child of obsidian glenn, using elements from TSR's Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance, Warhammer Fantasy, Lord of the Rings, World of Warcraft, Greyhawk, Fall from Heaven, to Forgotten Realms, bringing in various elements of D&D fantasy and international myth and lore. It is an attempt to explain the questions and conflicts we face as a modern society, in the light of a mythical setting. Heroes of Abrynis is about the combined stories of players and their characters. It is set up so you can rise up from adolescence into adulthood, and eventually a venerable age. It is meant to provide a human dynamic to adventuring and survival gameplay. From there you will be given class options and powers to mold your character into your preferred path as a player. The late versions of this mod will have its own launcher and character creation screen to fully give players that MMORPG feeling. I hope you enjoy the interpretation, and welcome you to add to the living myth that is, Heroes of Abrynis.

-Setting-
Abyrnis is the name of the material world which is the stage for heroic characters from all walks of life. Within it the known lands include many nations, many races. It is an ancient world which may be seeing the last days of its 4th Age. A darkness is spreading across the lands. This insidious spellplauge has caused many ill effects in the deep wilds. It is said that might champions of good have fallen under his spell, and now hold crusade against the light. Hoards of undead and magical abominations wreak havoc among the countryside. The spread now seems never-ending. Nations have taken refuge, kings are barricading their cities. Many hope that Azerai's darkness will lift soon.

-World-
Abrynis is large world with seasons and climates similar to our own. A wide variety of life and rich history gifts the world with diverse culture. The many different races have now become intermingled and cosmopolitan.

Svinka, land of the Lightfoots. Lightfoot Halflings have come a long way from their nomad origins. Not long ago they gathered in the leadership of a wise mage. Together they formed a nation based on a free market system. The First settlers of Svinka laid down the plans for a great society. Today their children and grandchildren are left with the responsibility to continue the legacy of the Svinkin.

Brindonsford- is the capital of the Halfling province of Svinka. It lies in the heartland of the Halfling nation, and serves as a major foodstuff hub for the Svinkin. The streets of Brindonford are wide, and the fields large. Most of the Svinkin live here in the city proper and work in the fields around Brindonsford. Brinidonsford established a Public Library, and has the largest collection of books in all of Svinka. The city's many markets sell a variety of wares ranging from imported wood to Dwarven made tools. Citizens of Brindonsford enjoy a public welfare system using vouchers for a weekly supply of bread. The youth is enrolled in public education, and the Svinka College provides education in engineering and architecture. The city features clean running water, and a sewer system. Residents of Brindonford truely live off the fat of the land.

Hvarleif - is a small hamlet overlooking lush seacliffs north of Brindonford. Hvarleif acts as a Svinkin freeport into the Bay of Giants, which leads eventually into the treacherous Ryjurik coastline. Only the most adventurous sailors and fisherman use these docks, who usually embark from the Whitewolf Inn. A small shrine to (Bocobb)Uller, lord of the source (source = laylines, magical connection, the bridge between the magical and the real), is located outside of town. As well as a small church of Venca, godess of the dead.

Leipvika - is a new start up community of foreign traders and Svinkin workers. The village was constructed over an ancient fort, and marks the southern border of Svinka. To the south are Dwarven lands of Bara-Kur. Recent trade charters made with rogue dwarf entrepreneurs have opened up the market, creating a new age of prosperity. This border town has become a boom town with all of its major imports being shipped to Brindonsford.
The town hosts two temples: Garlagin(Helios) & Sera. An up-and-coming guildhall named the Uldvinka Trade Co. has set up operations in the city, and control the daily trades made in-town and out.

      In the Beginning of Ages...

      -snip-

      The Age of Magus (GENESIS)

      The Age of (ANCIENTS/ELDAR)air

      The Age of  (ICE AGE/DWARVES)water

The Age of Dragons was ruled by Bahamut, bringing knowledge of math and science with him. Bahamut rebuilt the world out of Fire. It is said Bahamut sprinkled his golden riches strait into a molten Abrynis. Bahamut shaped beings to rule over his world in his own image. The mighty Thoht Council ruled the lands and skies of the world for over 700 years. The world was brought to an end by Tiamat, who spawned mixed floods by sea and rain, and thus destroyed the world of knowledge and the science once again.

The Age of Bulls was ruled by Brenna. Humans were first created out of the mud of the receeding floodwaters. This was a time of re-settlement and growth. Hamlets grew into villages, which grew into towns, which grew into powerful city-states. Kingdoms rose and fell, armies clashed in many battles. Demi-gods lived and died in this chaotic time. A son of Brenna rose to live amongst the mortal people. Unfortunately the mortals, in their very primitive ways, tortured and killed Brenna's son. This act left her little hope for a future and she turned her warm smile away from the world. The world grew damp and cold, Dark gods unleashed demons and devils upon the world. Their unholy battles manifested into our existence.

When Brenna turned her back on Abrynis; dark god plotted to rise from under the world's depths. The most infamous god, Azerai, raised the spellplauge which destroyed much of the worlds old knowledge. The world lingered in a hellish limbo for quite some time...the Gods eventually gave into Azerai's demands and let him have a seat on the council. The spellplauge faded, yet the world was left infested with monsters and creatures. The ancient races fled. Elves began their retreat, dwarves once again locked up their halls. It was left to the humans to rise up and challenge their surrounding chaos. A prophecy told by Haelyn says that a mighty king of the humans will be king of kings and rise up to challenge Graz'zt himself. The prophecy seems as a hoax. The human kings are divided and scattered.

(It is said the measure of danger can be judged by the breath of a great hall's doors. -gibly sommerfoot)

I have some more specifics about the Role Playing game being made here. TITLE STILL SUBJECT TO CREATION :DDD

This experiment in RPG is aimed at creating an enjoyable immersive experience for 20-40 active players. Dungeons and Dragons is a heavy influence on the game-system. We will be using a predetermined guideline to create a themed world open to story interpretation. The players would be able to write story that would fit and be implemented into gameplay.

Players would create characters that build and control their environment. NPCs and "secondary cohorts" can be available for RP hire. Thus enabling characters to control groups of people(NPC)s to use in any RP way.

The game will use minimal plug-in interference. And a mod-player relationship is the sole interaction needed for character adjustments and upgrades. We will be willing to work with mod-development to host a unique mod for craftbukkit.

We will feature(This list is subject to modification):
- Ship to ship PVP
- Royalist vs Pirate Factions
- Fantasy Races (Halflings,Dwarves,Elves,Gnomes,Zombies,Kuo-Toa)
- Dungeons, Events, Sieges
- Huge List of Character Options
- Guilds, charters, and permits

Personally I'm best with being a Gamemaster and Mapmaker. Thus I would be acting as a king or god providing help to players when needed. Also creating Dungeons and Instances for players to quest through.

Jobs I need filled would be:
- Mod-Development/Permissions Editor
- Redstone Engineer
- Questing Group/Events Moderators
- Lead Architect
- Economy Moderator
- Faction Moderators
